Choose the Location ü Select State/Area to Report Invasive Species Occurrence Choose the location of the Invasive species you are reporting.

Choose the species ü Choose the type of species you are reporting ü For this training we will use Plants

The Web form has Four Sections 1. 2. 3. 4. Information on the Pest Species Information on the Location Images Additional Notes 1 -Species 2 -Location 3 -Images 4 -Additional Notes

Species information ü Begin typing the name of the pest ü Choose your species from the dropdown box Simply check any box you think applies at the time you collected the data.

Species information – Add information on the invasive species ü Check Treated if infestation has been treated (Default = Positive) ü Date default is the data is entered

Species information ü The drop down menus have choices for Abundance, Canopy Closure, and Habitat Choose the closest match from the drop down menu Canopy Closure Estimate percent of the ground covered by foliage of the invasive plant Abundance Choose the best description for the plants at the site

Species information ü Gross area – Estimation of the general area of the infestation, but may include areas that are not actually occupied by the species of interest ü Infested area – Estimation of the area that contains only the species of interest

Species information Want to draw a polygon of the Gross Area (entire site)? ü Click on the pin , a map will pop up ü Zoom in to the location ü Click on to draw the Gross Area of the site ü Gross area is then filled in automatically Po lyg on ico n p a M n pi

Location information ü County automatically fills in based on the State you chose

Location information - Three choices ü Click on to show where an invasive is located to draw along a road or shoreline to create a site with three or more sides Infested Area will automatically update Linear Point Polygon

Location information ü Location Description/Nearest Address is a text box for additional information to help relocate an infestation ü Choose Ownership from the dropdown box Private ü No = Default ü Yes – Exact coordinates stay hidden, only county is shown, e. g. Ø Landowner prefers the exact location stays hidden Ø Sensitive restoration site Reporting invasives on privately owned land? Be sure to get the landowners permission

Add Images ü Upload up to five images for each report ü Caption: Identify the main feature in the image ü Photo by: If someone else took the picture, add their name

Additional Information ü Comments: Add additional information needed in this text box ü Identified by: Add name here if another expert identified the species ü Click Yes and add the location if a specimen is taken (Default = No) ü Click on Submit Report and you are done.
