General Dentistry - Definition General Dentistry is defined as the evaluation, diagnosis, prevention and/or treatment (nonsurgical, surgical or related procedures) of diseases, disorders and/or conditions of the oral cavity, maxillofacial area and/or the adjacent and associated structures and their impact on the human body; provided by a dentist, within the scope of his/her education, training and experience, in accordance with the ethics of the profession and applicable law.
Partnership between generalist and specialist The division of Knowledge into separate categories in modern Dentistry has led to the emergence of various specialties. The need of such division is partly due to treatment needs and partly due to the complexity and time required to train a dentist to be clinically competent enough to handle most, if not all, clinical situations. While the ultimate goal of clinical dentistry is to solve patient dental problems, we have to understand the inherent nature of many dental problems which always require multidisciplinary approaches to tackle. It is the duty of a general dentist to coordinate various treatment approaches as to serve the patient better. GD is the hub in quality dental care Quality Hub
