Timing Hardware SETTING UP THE FARMTEK TIMER
SETTING UP THE FARMTEK TIMER - DATA Connect stereo cable with COM adapter to the OUTPUT port
SETTING UP THE FARMTEK TIMER - HEADS 1. The start and finish come in pairs • One head to make the “line” • One head for being the other end of the “line” and transmitting the trip. 2. Place the heads on course and hook up a large antennae to each transmitter. 3. Turn on heads and check Farmtek Timer. Should see the Status Display listed as AUTOCROSS and the EYE as XX.
SETTING UP THE FARMTEK TIMER - HEADS 4. Trip the finish and trip the start by physically crossing through the “line”. • As you trip, the X’s next to “Eye” will show #1 and #2. 5. Cars will now trigger the start/finish heads.
SETTING UP THE FARMTEK TIMER - Modes Do this IF the mode isn’t autocross 1. With farmtek device on 2. Press “Setup”, Press “Enter” to select a new event 3. Press “Next” until you see “Autocross”, and press “Enter”

Setting Up at the Event - Comps SFR’s Setup
Setting Up at the Event - Comps 1. Power on the router in the trailer, the wifiadapter, and the hotspot 2. Connect the Time Keeper and any other laptops you want to it 3. Connect the output connector of the Farmtek device to the assigned USB port on the Time Keeper. 1. Output from Farmtek is connected to a splitter first 2. Clear COM->USB goes to laptop USB port labeled “Timer” 4. Power on Time Keeper first and then other laptops
Setting Up at the Event - Comps 1. On the Time Keeper, click the STEP 1 and STEP 2 batch files. 2. When clicking STEP 2, you should a line in the command prompt window that says “COM X open”. If you see an error, close step 2.
Setting Up at the Event - Comps Find the COM port number 1. Click Start menu and type “Device Manager” 2. Look for “Ports (COM & LPT)” and expand it 3. Unplug your farmtek connector and you should see a port disappear 4. Plug it back in and it will reappear. Remember this number.

Setting Up at the Event - Comps • With time keeper now up, everything else can now start • Turn on your other comps and open the browser on each • Enter the IP address or URL of your Time Keeper. SFR uses 192. 168. 1. 111 • Join the event with whatever roles you want.

SETTING UP THE DISPLAYS - FARMTEK 1. Make sure Farmtek Timer is on 2. Turn on remote receiver of Farmtek Display 3. Do a Start/Stop in the Farmtek Timer and see if time updates on display
SETTING UP THE DISPLAYS - JAC 1. Locate a JAC timing data cable 1. One side will be a COM port 2. Other side will be JAC Timer connector 3. If chaining displays, the JAC cable will have to JAC Timer connectors 2. Locate the Farmtek data ouput cable. 1. Should be connected to a splitter 2. The unused COM->USB connector should now be plugged into a port on the right side of the laptop 1. Take note in Device Manager which port number is assigned 2. We’ll call this Input Port 3. Locate another white COM->USB connector and plug into remaining port on the right side of the laptop 1. Take note in Device Manger again 2. We’ll call this Output Port
SETTING UP THE DISPLAYS - JAC 4. 5. 6. 7. Open the folder called “farmtek_to_jac” on the deskop Edit com_list. conf. Set the correct port #s. Double-click timer_converter. py Send two finishes from farmtek to begin ability to send data to the JAC display from the farmtek timer 8. Connect the JAC data cable from step 1 to the JAC display(s) 9. Remember to connect the power adapter to the display(s) too 10. Turn on display. Digits will tumble if power is correctly sent
