The Caves of Lascaux � The caves contain nearly 2000 figures including animals, humans and abstract symbols � The most famous section of the cave is the “Hall of the Bulls” in which the image of one bull stretches over 17 feet long
The Caves of Lascaux � The caves were discovered in 1940 but by 1963 the breathing of 1200 visitors per day created mold inside the caves and they were closed to visitors soon after � Only a small number of scientists and archaeologists are allowed to enter the caves for very short periods of time
