TRACER STUDIES PILLAR 2 LET’S WORK WASHINGTON, DC ALVARO GONZALEZ April 18, 2016
DEFINITION & GOALS Ø For the Let’s Work initiative, tracer studies are proposed to track and record or evaluate the effectiveness of interventions in terms of creating more, better and inclusive jobs. Ø Goals: ü To document changes in employment, wages or other dimensions related to the quality of the job that beneficiaries experience; and ü To understand if and how the intervention contributed to these observed changes. ü Tracers are particularly well-suited for estimating and attributing changes in the quality of jobs and whethere are inclusive jobs.
UNIT OF INTERVENTION Ø For the evaluation of jobs intervention, three types of tracers studies are considered: ü Tracer studies that assess or evaluate the effectiveness of interventions on individual beneficiaries; ü Tracer studies that assess or evaluate the effectiveness of interventions on firms targeted by a given intervention; and ü Tracer studies that assess or evaluate the effectiveness of users of a new service and/or infrastructure.
