Town Administrator Shall the Town vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen, by simple majority, to hire a qualified full-time Town Administrator to serve as Chief Administrative Officer of the Town.

Why is A Town Administrator Needed • The number of duties are too great for a part time Board of Volunteers to handle (just not enough time). • Town management has become very technical and complicated. The BOS often are not trained in all facets of running a Town business. • Departments bring problems to the BOS. Often several points emerge. Often research needs to be done and decisions are put off for weeks. • The BOS often gets down into weeds and not able to focus on higher level integrated and strategic planning. • The BOS may change every year; often lack of continuity and consistency. • The BOS are usually not available during the day when most department activities occur, causing delays in decision making. 2

Town Administrator Duties The Town Administrator is the Chief Administrative Officer for the Board of Selectmen. The TA is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of all town departments. The TA will establish a working relationship and communication with all departments, commissions, committees, appointed officials and elected officials. 4
