AREA COVERED 157 square kilometres DATING Kaunas was established in 1030. PHYSICAL AND AESTHETIC FEATURES Kaunas is Lithuania’s second largest city (population 325 000) resting at the confluence of country’s two largest rivers, Neris and Nemunas. HISTORICAL/SCIENTIFIC/ARTISTIC INFORMATION Kaunas city is known for it's castle, medieval old town, Tawn Hall and also for Santakos park. Kaunas is proud of its great number of museums, theatres, universities, colleges, fine hotels, restaurants, cafes and bars.

If you get there by car or bus it won’t be a problem to leave it, because there is a big parking lot. There, you will have an opportunity to visit the most important and amusing places: see “White Swan”, Thunder House, Sun clock, Vytautas Church. Also you can take a walk in Santakos park and visit a place, where Kaunas history was started – Kaunas castle; of course to see one of the oldest gothic style churches in Kaunas.

There is two types of tickets: A single use paper ticket and E-ticket Trolleybuses and buses run from 4. 30 a. m. until 10. 30 p. m. You may buy the CARD at the newspaper stands or in the places marked by the special sign “Kauno Viešasis Transportas” (KVT) (Kaunas Public Transport). You must always have your card when getting on the means of transport.
