THE AEGEAN REGION The Aegean Region is the coast of the Aegean Sea. There

THE AEGEAN REGION The Aegean Region is the coast of the Aegean Sea. There are important peninsulas and commercial ports in the region. It has the shortest and the longest coastline. Mediterranean climate and maquis vegetation dominate the region. Agriculture and trade developed in the region. Industry, tourism and transportation developed in the region. Service sectors such as education, health, transportation have developed.

While the mountains reach the sea perpendicular to the sea, the shoreline is protruding. Rivers constitute meanders. Population density is increasing in the region. There are metropolitan, touristic and industrial cities in the region. Tourism revenues also generate large revenues for the country.

Maiden Tower : It located off the coast of Salacak neighborhood in Uskudar district, at the southern entrance of the Bosphorus. It literally means "Maiden's Tower" in Turkish. The name comes from a legend: the Byzantine emperor heard a prophecy telling him that his beloved daughter would die at the age of 18 by a snake. So he decided to put her in this tower built on a rock on the Bosphorus isolated from the land thus no snake could kill her. But she couldn't escape from her destiny after all, a snake hidden in a fruit basket brought from the city bit the princess and killed her.

Boztepe-Ordu : With a height of 530 meters from the sea, Boztepe exhibits the center of Ordu with all its beauty. The distance between the city center and Boztepe center is 6 km.

Karagol Sahara National Park : Sahara Park, located between Artvin and Ardahan province, is 17 kilometers away from Şavşat district center. Forest cover is one of the important plateaus of Artvin with its wide pastures and cold waters.
