What does it take to start TORCH? • Decide who you want to serve – K- 8 th grade – 8 th-12 th grade – Adults – Seniors – Community agency • Decide what programs to offer – What subsection do they fall? – Check the TORCH website and handbook for ideas! • Decide where to offer your programs – At your college or university – Community center – Public Library – School NATIONAL SOCIETY OF BLACK ENGINEERS NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE

Volunteers, Funding and Participation • Get your chapter involved! – Use membership incentive programs – Do a volunteer challenge – Integrate in regular chapter activities • Fund your TORCH program – Fundraise – Apply to the National TORCH & Programs Funds – Don’t be afraid to start small with no funds • Community participation – Work with community based organizations – Advertise in local newspaper – Visit schools, community centers, and churches NATIONAL SOCIETY OF BLACK ENGINEERS NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
