Contingency Planning - Also known as ‘business continuity planning’ or ‘disaster recovery planning’ - Preparing the immediate steps to be taken in the event of a crisis or emergency - Crises such as fire, floods, illness of key staff, damage to stock, IT system failure - Effective contingency planning allows a business to take steps to minimise the potential impact of a disaster.
Contingency Planning Key Steps in Contingency Planning: 1) Identify potential disasters 2) Assess the likelihood of these occurring 3) Minimise the potential impact of the crisis 4) Effective planning can help remove risk altogether 5) Plan for continued operations.
