Tragedy q. A play where things go seriously wrong and the main character usually dies or ends up in bad circumstances.
Tragic Flaw A personal failing like excessive pride, ambition, rebelliousness, or passion. Imperfections.
Tragic Hero An admirable figure who has a personal failing that leads to his or her downfall. Often times he or she is the main character in a tragedy.
• A character foil is a character who contrasts with another character (usually the protagonist) in order to highlight various features of that other character’s personality, throwing these characteristics into sharper focus

Example of a character foil • Mercutio and Romeo • Mercutio always makes fun of love, specifically his buddy, Romeo, who is always in love with someone. • Romeo, in contrast, is always madly and “genuinely” in love with someone. His romantic nature is highlighted by his foil, Mercutio.
