03. PV / Smart Grid Connection (only BRP 069 A 61) 15
3. PV / Smart Grid Connection This function is available only when; - The unit software is TO 7 or higher - The RC software version is V 01. 17 or higher - “Full Version(BRP 069 A 61)” LAN Adapter is equipped - PV inverter or energy management system has digital output 3 -1. Functions PV / Smart Grid Connection function maximizes the self-consumption of power generated by PV within thermal buffer. (e. g. DHW tank, space heating / cooling set temperature) Pulse Signal (optional) Digital Signals Control PV Inverter / HEMS LAN Adapter Energy injection Self-consumption Power Grid 16 Pulse electrical meter (optional) P 1 P 2 HP
3. PV / Smart Grid Connection 3 -2. Operation modes LAN Adapter chooses the best operation mode depending on the situation of PV power generation and energy injection to the grid. Target: maximum self-consumption of power PV generates and minimum power injection to the grid 1. “Free running” mode There is no effect of the Smart Grid Control (=normal operation) A unit operates according to its own settings and schedule. 2. “Forced OFF” mode The operation of outdoor unit and electrical heater is deactivated to reduce power consumption in case of high energy tariff. 3. “Recommended ON” mode A Unit starts DHW, space heating or cooling to make use of PV energy. The power consumption by the unit has fix value or auto-adaptive limitation. 4. “Forced ON” mode A Unit starts DHW, space heating or cooling to make MAXIMUM use of PV energy. The power consumption by the unit has no limitation. 17
3. PV / Smart Grid Connection 3 -2 -1. “Free running” mode There is no effect of the Smart Grid Control (=normal operation) A unit operates according to its own settings and schedule. Pulse Signal (optional) Digital Signals (SG 0=0, SG 1=0) No control PV Inverter / HEMS LAN Adapter Energy injection Self-consumption Power Grid 18 Pulse electrical meter (optional) P 1 P 2 HP
3. PV / Smart Grid Connection 3 -2 -2. “Forced OFF” mode The operation of outdoor unit and electrical heater is deactivated to reduce power consumption in case of high energy tariff. Pulse Signal (optional) Digital Signals (SG 0=0, SG 1=1) Force OFF PV Inverter / HEMS LAN Adapter Energy injection Self-consumption Power Grid 19 Pulse electrical meter (optional) P 1 P 2 HP
3. PV / Smart Grid Connection 3 -2 -3. “Recommended ON” mode A Unit starts DHW, space heating or cooling to make use of PV energy. The power consumption by the unit has fix value or auto-adaptive limitation*. Pulse Signal (optional) Digital Signals (SG 0=1, SG 1=0) PV Inverter / HEMS LAN Adapter Energy injection Self-consumption Power Grid Operate with power limitation P 1 P 2 HP Pulse electrical meter (optional) Fix Value Power Limitation - Power limitation is set beforehand on the Web Interface by installers. - If consumption exceeds the limitation => Compressor output reduction and/or force electrical heater OFF Auto-adaptive Power Limitation (recommended) - Power limitation is automatically set based on measured power injection to the grid, and compressor output and/or electrical heaters are adjusted. The limitation is set to maximize the usage of PV and minimize power injection to the grid. 20
3. PV / Smart Grid Connection 3 -2 -3. “Recommended ON” mode - Availability of power limitation functions Existing models LT Function MB New models GQI * GBS GQI * ✔ ✔ n/a n/a HB GQI * GBS GQI Fix Value Power Limitation ✔ n/a n/a ✔ Auto-adaptive Power Limitation ✔ n/a n/a ✔ LT w/o BUH GBS GS GBS LT for UK Multi + Hybrid HT * Basically, power limitation is NOT available for GQI units. Instead of power limitation, power is reduced by always turning OFF electrical heaters while operation of a compressor is allowed. - Case example of two power limitation (In case PV generates 3 k. W and other appliances consume 1 k. W) Fix Value Power Limitation (with the preset limitation of 1 k. W) 1 k. W injection 3 k. W 1 k. W Auto-adaptive Power Limitation Pulse Signal 1 k. W Unit operates up to the fix value power limitation (unit consumes 1 k. W in this case) limited injection 3 k. W +- 2 k. W Unit operates as much as possible so that It minimizes injection (unit consumes 2 k. W in this case) Auto-adaptive Power Limitation is recommended to maximize self-consumption! 21 1 k. W
3. PV / Smart Grid Connection 3 -2 -4. “Forced ON” mode A Unit starts DHW, space heating or cooling to make MAXIMUM use of PV energy. The power consumption by the unit has no limitation.
