Equipment • • • Chopping board Sharp knife Large pan and lid (x 2 for Shepherd Pie) Small pan Mixing spoon Tablespoon Grater Measuring jug Pan Stand

Fill pan half full of water and heat with lid on Peel potatoes, cut to an even size and place in pan for about 10 mins Prepare vegetables – chop onions, garlic and mushrooms. Add all of the mince to an oiled pan and fry on a low heat until browned. Check potatoes and if cooked DRAIN and MASH Add onions and garlic and continue to cook until onions soften. Add stock or tomatoes, herbs, mushrooms and puree. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 mins. Add stock cube or salt and pepper. While simmering grate Cheese. Pour meat sauce into dish and cover with potato. Use a fork to fluff up topping. Cover with cheese and TIDY UP. Put half meat in your dish, add layer of pasta, then rest of meat. Wash pan ready to use for cheese sauce. Make cheese sauce by putting milk, margarine and flour in pan. Bring to the boil over a low Bring to the heat. Stir all the time. Take sauce off the heat and add half of the cheese. Put another layer of pasta on the meat. Add the cheese sauce to the top spread evenly. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Cook for 20 -25 mins at gas 5/190 c at home.
