Labeling Rhymes • When we label rhymes, we show which rhymed lines match by using letter labels.
Check for Understanding • Fire and Ice Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favour fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice. • - Robert Frost
Check for Understanding A Time to Talk When a friend calls to me from the road And slows his horse to a meaning walk, I don't stand still and look around On all the hills I haven't hoed, And shout from where I am, 'What is it? ' No, not as there is a time talk. I thrust my hoe in the mellow ground, Blade-end up and five feet tall, And plod: I go up to the stone wall For a friendly visit. - Robert Frost
Meter • We will talk about meter tomorrow.
Review • Label rhymed lines by giving them all matching letters • The pattern of rhymes can be very simple or very complex according to the author’s preferences.
