DEFINITION OF TOBACCO FACTS • According to Merriam Webster’s Online Dictionary: • any of a genus (Nicotiana) of chiefly American plants of the nightshade family with viscid foliage and tubular flowers; especially : a tall erect annual tropical American herb (North tabacum) cultivated for its leaves • the leaves of cultivated tobacco prepared for use in smoking or chewing or as snuff
FACTS ON TOBACCO • 9 out of 10 smokers start before the age of 18, and 98% start smoking by age 26. • 1 in 5 adults and teenagers smoke. • Smoking slows down lung growth in children and teens. • Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among both men and women in the United States.
