LI: To solve problems involving converting different units of time into one common measurement. I know that seconds, minutes and hours go up in 60 s. I can use the relationships between seconds, minutes and hours to convert between them. I can use the relationship between weeks months and years to convert between them. Vocabulary Convert Units of measure Time Seconds Minutes (60 seconds) Hours (60 minutes) Days (24 hours) Weeks (7 days) Months (4 weeks, up to 31 days) Years (12 months, 52 weeks; 365 days) Recap from the last lesson… Look at the skills and then quickly check your understanding. Previously, we looked at how we can convert between metric units and imperial units. Let’s quickly recap the rules of how to convert back and forth between metric and imperial units. Metric to metric: Metric units include millimetres, centimetres, metres and kilometres for length; grams and kilograms for mass and millilitres and litres for capacity. In order to convert between them you will have to multiply or divide the value by 10, 100 or 1000. Look at the diagrams to get a better picture. Remember when converting from a smaller unit to a larger unit you will need to divide, but when converting from a larger unit to a smaller unit you will need to multiply.
