MATHS CORNER Dear children, ‘What is Infinity’ ? You might have often wondered ! Almost all of you will say ‘Infinity is a very large number’. A few of you might say by defining Infinity as ‘ 1÷ 0’. Both are wrong ! Infinity is not a number. It is actually a concept or idea which can not be defined. If 1 = ∞, then 0 X ∞ = 1 which means that 0 ∞ times zero is 1. That is 0+0+0+……. up to ∞=1. How can ‘Nothing+ ………. . become “Something” ? There was a young fellow from Trinity who took √∞ but the number of digits gave him the fidgets. He dropped Math and took up Divinity.
