Subject of scientific research • Briefly describe the problem addressed in thesis and the fundamentals of the area of scientific research 4. Overview and assessment of existing research • Candidate should present a critical assessment of existing research and synthesis of relevant facts gathered by searching information sources and literature • List the areas which are not covered by existing research, i. e. unresolved issues

Hypothesis • Starting from the research problem and subject of scientific research, and based on results of searching information sources and literature, the candidate should formulate a hypothesis which is either confirmed or rejected in the doctoral thesis • Candidate presents auxiliary hypotheses, if formulated in the doctoral thesis proposal

Methodology of scientific research • Candidate needs to describe procedures used for conducting scientific research in doctoral thesis, by applying scientific methods • Candidate needs to list the scientific methods (e. g. induction and deduction method, analysis and synthesis method, experimental method, method of proofs and refutations, system theory, etc. ) which were used in research for the purpose of confirming or rejecting the formulated scientific hypothesis • Candidate should list all available tools and techniques which were used in applied scientific methods (e. g. mathematical tools, genetic algorithms, optimisation methods, fuzzy logic, neural networks, etc. )

Research contribution • Candidate should emphasise the original research contribution of the doctoral thesis 8. USEFUL REMARKS • Length of presentation: up to 45 min • It is recommended that 1 -2 slides should be presented per minute • Write in phrases (avoid full sentences) • It is recommended to include up to 6 items (bullets) per slide • Use minimum font size 18 • Font size should be different for main and supporting items • Use standard typeface
USEFUL REMARKS • Check presentation for spelling mistakes and repeated words • Excessive multimedia content and animations in the presentation can distract the audience from the subject of the presentation • Kindly ask your supervisor and/or colleague to go over your presentation
