What is Title I? § It’s the largest federal aid program for public schools

What is Title I? § It’s the largest federal aid program for public schools in the United States. Title I is designed to support State and local school reform efforts tied to the challenging State academic standards to improving teaching and learning for students. Title I programs must be based on effective means of improving student achievement and include strategies to support parent and family engagement.

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Title I Parent and Family Engagement Requirements § The School District and all Title I schools must allocate at least one percent (1%) of their Title I budget towards programs , activities , and procedures for parent and family engagement. § The School District and all Title I schools must develop with , and distribute to , parents and family members, a written Title I Parent and Family Engagement Plan (PFEP). § All Title I schools are required to collaborate with parents and families in the development of the School Improvement Process (SIP) and School. District Parent & Family Engagement Plan (PFEP) § The district Parent and Family Engagement plan is a blueprint of how the district and Title I schools will work together with parents and family members to establish expectations for family engagement and strengthen student academic achievement. § The PFEP describes how the district will provide the coordination, technical assistance, and other support actions to assist schools in planning and implementing effective parent and family engagement activities. § As well as conduct, with meaningful involvement of parents and family members, an annual evaluation of the content and effectiveness of the parent and family engagement policy towards improving the academic quality of all schools served under Title I, Part A.
