The government’s definition of extremism People can express their identity All religious groups are protected Extremism: “Opposition to Fundamental British Values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs or none. Also calls for the death of members of our armed forces whether in this country or overseas. ” Terrorism: Violence based on a political motivation Every vote is equal People are free to act in any way which doesn’t break British Law No British citizen deserves death

- Answers 1. Some extremists use the internet but some also spread their ideas in person 2. Hate Speech laws state that we should not threaten protected groups but having opinions is allowed under freedom of thought, so this is really for you to decide! Stretch: Absolutely, things that Britain see as extremist would not necessarily be seen as extremist in other countries

GOOD NEWS If you see an extremist message that has been graffitied or stuck to a wall and report it- the police will remove it within 72 hours. No one should feel intimidated in their home town!
