Tip of the Iceberg: Clery Act and Title IX Regulations
Clery Act - the basics § Main Focus: Provide crime and fire statistics as well as information about the University’s campus safety policies and procedures to current and future members of the campus community. § Such information reported to the campus community in the Annual Security and Fire Safety Reports. § Additional Focus: Alert the campus community of eminent or impending threats through Emergency Notifications or Timely Warnings.
Clery Security Authorities § Who are they? § § Mandated reporters under the Clery Act Employees with significant responsibility for student and campus activities. § What do they do? § CSAs report to the Office of Clery Act Compliance certain crimes they learn of which were committed within the University’s Clery geography. § Am I a CSA? § Your supervisor will let you know if you are a CSA.

Title IX regulations § Civil Rights Law protecting University students and employees from sex-based discrimination. § Historical focus was on gender equity in athletic programs. § In 2011, focus shifted to sexual harassment and violence against students and employees.
Title IX – mandated reporters Responsibility: Must report Title IX sexual harassment they learn of to the Office for Accessibility and Gender Equity. § Am I a mandated reporter? § Your supervisor will tell you if you are a mandated reporter. § If so, you will need to take a specific training to make sure you understand your responsibilities as a mandated reporter.
