Salutation (Aanhef) Dear Sir / Madam, 7. Body (Tekst) I am writing to complain about a meal we had in your restaurant yesterday. We had booked a table for six but when we arrived there were no free tables and we had to wait for more than 45 minutes to sit down. From a menu of 12 dishes, only four were available and their quality was poor. The fish, in particular, tasted awful and the waiter was rude when we told him about this. We have eaten in your restaurant several times in the past but this is the forst time we have received such bad treatment. I am not asking for a refund but I would like you to improve the quality of your dishes and service. 8. Close (Afsluiting) Yours faithfully, Handtekening Ellen Kuindersma

Writing exercise Postcard Scene • You are on holiday in England. Off course you have to tell your best friend, who is not with you, all about it. Just because it is fun, you send a postcard to him or her. Assignment • Write the text for the postcard. It should be at least 30 but not more than 60 words. • Write the text in English • Don’t forget to greet your friend and close your postcard • You can make up your own subjects but you don’t have to. You have to use these four points. You can use more but you don’t have to. – Ask your friend how he or she is doing – Tell him about the great weather – Tell him where you went, which city – Tell him what you did, for example visit the Glastonbury festival, shopping at Harrods ( or something else you would like to do when you are in England). Completion • Send your text in an email to e. kuindersma@helicon. nl
