Activities of year 2012 • Development of laboratory quality management system for ISO/IEC 17025 to ready for accreditation. • Expansion of the calibration services to industry in time and frequency • Development of the existing NTP time server system to disseminate time to Government institutes , media, telecommunication companies and general public with more precisely, less jitter and congestion.

Planed Activities for year 2013 • Purchasing equipment for establishment of national time scale (Cesium atomic clock, Multi channel dual frequency GNSS receiver, Pulse and Frequency distribution amplifiers and necessary accessories) • Establishing high frequency measurements (RF) instrumentation. • Establishment of radio time code transmission system

Construction of New MUSSD Building Complex with Instrumentation and Personnel • Location : near the city Homagama, about 20 km away from the Colombo City • Total Estimated cost: 2000 Million Rupees (Approx: 190 Million USD) • Planned to complete the laboratory area within 1. 5 years • Whole project planed to complete in next 3 years.
