Tides and Seasons A Magic School Bus Adventure
Tides and Seasons: A Magic School Bus Adventure By Michael Ogden

Http: //space-facts. com/the-moon/ Here we are, in space! Do you see that kids? That’s the moon! The moon is the main reason we have tides. It, along with the sun, creates tidal bulges.
http: //www. ducksters. com/science/earth_science/ocean_tides. php Tides are created by the gravitational pull of the moon and sun. The tide runs through a cycle of rising and then falling and this cycle can happen once or twice a day. High tides happen on the sides of the Earth that are in line with the moon and the sides that are 90 degree angle with the moon have low tides.
http: //www. ducksters. com/science/earth_science/ocean_tides. php Tidal bulges are how the water on the earth moves to the moon and the sun’s gravity. This pull creates a thing called neap tides and spring tides. Neap tides are small tides and spring tides are large tides. Spring tides are made when the Sun and Moon are in line and work together. When the sun and moon are perpendicular (the shape of a corner) they don’t work together and create neap tides.
http: //peterpancenter. com/event/magic-school-bus-science/ The other thing that the sun creates is the seasons! We have seasons because of the angle that the sun hits the Earth. This changes as the sun goes around the sun in a length of 365 days (One Year!) and creates Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Since the sun is tilted it is not evenly heated throughout the year. Because of this tilt, we have opposite seasons on different sides of the equator.

Uh oh, look at the time kids. We need to be getting back right now! Say goodbye and thank you to Mr. Moon and Mr. Sun. Now let’s get back before supper time.
http: //www. goodlightscraps. com/content/good-night-10. gif Let’s review what we learned today on the way back home kids. We learned that the sun and moon cause seasons and tides, what neap tides, spring tides and tidal bulges are and how they are created and finally we learned how the Earth’s tilt and the sun’s heat creates seasons. Oh! Looks like we’re here. I hope you had a fun time today and I’ll see you all next time. Goodnight kids!
The Author Michael Ogden has been writing novels since last science class and continues to avoid school projects involving it. You may enjoy his other works, such as “Stop Making Me Write Stuff” and “Just Give Me a B Already”. If you enjoyed this novel, just wait for the essay on his final this June. He promises it will be his most mediocre work yet (unless he drops out).
