Proficiency Learners practice the four skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) in order to communicate meaningfully, effectively, and creatively in their target language for reallife purposes. Student-centered and builds upon what students need, already know, and can do, and it respects diverse learning styles.

Proficiency A goal of language teaching rather than a methodology. Students may show proficiency at different levels in different modes at any given time. We want students to produce the language in some way so that we can track progress.

Can we understand what they’re saying? Constant feedback!! Use rubrics so that students know where they are and can track their own progress.

Look closely at topics you’ve taught in the past. Do students really need it? Would they be better off with more time on something else? Can/should it be pushed to another level?
