High Frequency Word Recognition This week I will not be introducing any more tricky words, we will though be looking at ‘high frequency words’. These are common words which children will come across lots when reading and writing so they should be able to recognise them by sight, rather than sound them out each time. Today’s focus sound is ‘ear’ so first of all make sure your child is holding their pencil correctly and then practise forming the letters. Tips on the correct pencil grip, we encourage children to ‘pinch and flick’ the pencil to make sure they are holding it correctly.
