Government What are the Branches of Government? Legislative, Judicial, Executive One branch has just as much power as the next. Helps everything run smoothly in Government. The Branches are designed to make sure all powers within the Government are equal. The division of power is called the Checks and Balance system.
Legislative Branch Made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. House of Representatives has 435 members and the Senate has 100 members. The Senate is consisted of 2 representatives from each state. This branch has the power to make the laws.
Judicial Branch The Judicial Branch is made up of 9 judges. The President chooses them, and the legislative branch finalizes his choices. They make up the court that makes final decisions on state and federal cases. The responsibility of the Judicial Branch is to interpret the law.
Executive Branch The President is the head of the Executive Branch. The President is elected by the people of the United States of America. The term of the President is 4 years, and can only be elected twice. The main responsibility of the Executive Branch is to enforce the laws.
