Thomas Benjamin Kennington nasceu em Grimsby, Lincolnshire, Inglaterra, em 7 de abril de 1856. Estudou na “Liverpool School of Art”, no “Royal College of Art”, em Londres, e na “Académie Julian”, em Paris. Estabeleceu-seem Chelsea, em Londres, onde desfrutou de uma carreira de sucesso. Biography: Thomas Benjamin Kennington was born in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, on April 7, 1856. He studied at the “Liverpool School of Art”, at the “Royal College of Art”, in London, and at the “Académie Julian”, in Paris. He settled in Chelsea, London, where he achieved a successfulcareer. His works were well received and he exhibited at the “Royal Academy” from 1880 to 1916. He was, also, a regular exhibitor at the “Royal Society of British Artists”, in Sufflok Street, a founder member of the “New English Art Club” and first secretary and a founder of the “Imperial Arts League”. He won a bronze medal at the “Exposition Universelle”, in Paris, in 1889, and, from 1890 on, he taught at the “St John’s Wood Art School”. Maternal Advice
Kennington became known not only for his idealised paintings of domestic and everyday-life, but also for his social realist paintings. His works can be found at the “Walker Art Gallery”, in Liverpool, at the Art Gallery “Whitworth”, in Manchester, and in many other public and private collections.
