Here’s a not so quick introduction to where we live
So Where In the World Is Sleepy Bay, Rivers Inlet?
We are: 89 km north of Port Hardy – our closest “town” 220 km northwest of Vancouver 3819 km west northwest of Ottawa AND 4958 km due west of Rivers Inlet is, not Japan, But Utashud, Siberia

Here is where our closest neighbours are Dawson’s Landing Rob, Nola, Amber & Crystal O Buck’s Camp (Finn Bay) Art & Shelly Sleepy Bay (Us) O Cooper’s Cove x (Mc. Gee Channel) O O Richard & Sheila Robin’s Nest (Sunshine Bay) Robin, Sarah & Charlotte
Not all the names we use are on the chart. Some are local names. Here is where they are: Klaquaek Channel is locally know as “The Lake”. In any wind other than a SW one, this area is calm like a mirror
This pass is know as “Slaughter Alley”. Local legend has it that one band of Natives massacred another in this spot.
Boaters know this area as Fury Cove as it is behind Fury Island. Locals call this area “Clam Beach” – do I really have to tell why?
And at the back of Magee Channel is Cooper’s Cove, ‘cause that’s where they live.
And now the Cast of Characters

This is our supply tug & barge, The Gulf Ranger, delivering our groceries. She’s too big to get into the Lodge, so drops the groceries on the Airport float. The planes bringing in the guests can’t get to the Lodge either, so drops & picks them up from this float.
And Now Just Some Scenery
Clam Beach – the sand looks so white because it isn’t sand, its ground shells. Most of the beaches around here are shell beaches.
This is just in behind Clam Beach. The Island in the background is Calvert Isl.
