Oliver Cromwell So far we have investigated the 1641 Rebellion in Ireland its links to the Ulster Plantation. We have also investigated how that Rebellion led to Oliver Cromwell arriving to Ireland with his “New Model Army”. 1649 was a big year for this man. Not only did he arrive to Ireland with his “New Model Army”, but a very important individual was executed. Who was it? Yes…it was King Charles I, who was on the losing side of the English Civil War.
