Attention Parents • Recognize they are not in middle school or high school but they are still teenagers. • Their free time to serve the family is now more limited • Their work is much more difficult • Their days are much longer and include more travel time. • Perfectionism is not a virtue • Educated, not flawless, young people is the goal

EEP VS. High School SCHOOL DAYS: 8 -3 Monday-Friday. Standard TRAVEL minimal CURRICULUM: standard

Variable days TRAVEL may be extensive CURRICULUM: Enhanced G. E. coursework plus major SOCIAL LIFE: campus clubs and activities PERSONAL LIFE: development as teenagers under the supervision of parents PERSONAL LIFE: development as teenagers POST HS: Graduate at 17 -18, apply to college. POST EEP: Graduate at 17 -18, apply to grad POST COLLEGE: join workforce as a young adult under the supervision of parents school. POST GRAD SCHOOL: join workforce as a young adult professional

ELDERS: 1. Serving as role models and mentors to younger students 2. Preparing to launch to grad school & adulthood.

Golden Eagle Territory GET (Golden Eagle Territory) is here to help prospective and current students quickly find important information at Cal State L. A. including class schedules, course completion records ( unofficial transcripts, ) degree progress and grades. Additionally, ALL course registration is completed through GET Ø New EEP students must create their account* sometime in early August. After their applications are processed permanent student ID numbers (CIN’s) will be provided to new EEP students, this CIN number will be used to open their University online account. A link will be provided with instructions. Students will thereafter register for their fall 2017 courses. *Many of you have already completed this step

Advisement Practices in EEP o Each EEP student will submit a completed EEP Advisement

Advisement Practices in EEP o Each EEP student will submit a completed EEP Advisement Slip by the stated deadline for every term in attendance. o Each student will meet with EEP Director to discuss class choices etc. before each term o Registration holds will be placed on any student not submitting a slip by the deadline o Advisement Slip with commentary mailed to parents each term.

 Major Advisement /Faculty Contacts In addition to EEP and Honors College advisement, EEP

Major Dept. & staff: EEP students are expected to be familiar with their departmental staff members.

School Attendance EEP students under 18 years of age must register for a full load of classes (12 units) each semester during the academic year and must be on campus at least four days per week Monday – Friday for a minimum of 4 hours during the normal school day each term in attendance as per compulsory education codes. (Education Code § 48200, 48400, 48261, 48262) Benefits of School Attendance Policies 1. 2. DECREASE opportunities for MISCHIEF and INACTIVITY away from school. INCREASE opportunities for ENGAGEMENT, Involvement and Participation. That led to increased probability for SUCCESS 3. CONSISTENCY with State Compulsory Education codes
