Back in 1999, I sailed from Saipan to Satawal in 7 days, the navigator didn’t use a compass he just let the stars guide him during the night and during the day he uses that current and the wind. It took us seven days, the only thing we brought with us is supplies and food, we stopped by in an island in one day then the next day we continued. I wanted to visit where chief agharubw and our Carolinian ancestors were from.
“There were once two lovers that really love each other, though their parents were Filipinos, the didn’t want their kids to be in a committed relationship because they are still young, so they were prohibited them to continue their relationship, but even when the parents separated them they promised to that they will love each other until the end. One day, the guy decided to look for her unfortunately, he found out that she has passed away. He then decided to visit her grave, by the grave site of the girl, he found a beautiful tree with a beautiful fruit that was sometimes yellow, sometimes red. The fruit was a mango that was shaped like a heart and the people said that the mango was shaped like a heart because she was really true to her promise that she will love him forever, that’s why when she passed away, a mango grew.
So we met in an airplane in Honolulu and she just happened to be going to Baltimore, Maryland. We didn’t know that but we kept talking so when we were on the plane, we got to know each other so. After two weeks we said “lets get together again. ” The next time we met was in December in north Carolina and that was the first time we got everybody together, her and her four kids. We just had another vacation last year and I’ve been here to Saipan months before, so we kept skyping, talking and meeting and now this is what it brought us to.
