Highest priority coastal fisheries technical need: § Establishment and Strengthening of the Special Management Area (SMA)program. § To date, 40 SMAs have been established since 2006. § 10 new SMAs in progress § 20 more communities flagged their interest, § Target of 100 SMAs… § Coastal fisheries policy and management measures, regulation review 2. Second highest priority coastal fisheries technical need include: § Conducting monitoring and assessment on coastal fisheries resources including sea cucumber, corals, and monitoring of SMA § Compliance

Aquaculture Technical Priorities 1. A priority area for aquaculture is related to culture of new aquaculture commodities (Sea cucumber, tilapia, prawns, mud crab). The technical needs include: • Trial culture at community level, • Developing and promoting a favourable business and policy environment for aquaculture • Biosecurity issues such as formulating and implementing policies and procedures to reduce risks and safeguard biosecurity • Aquaculture development policies and legislation review 2. Second highest priority aquaculture technical need include : • Technical capacity on aquaculture of the above commodities

RTMCF 2 Action Plans : Use of length data for target species – Creel survey on hold, Request SPC assistance Sharing of data – on going Coastal fisheries policy, Law, regulation Database – Ongoing with SPC assistance Sea safety – on going (Crab Bags, Trainings) with other agencies. . Sea cucumber fisheries – Moratorium, Review Sea cucumber management plans
