Pressing • Temporarily Straightens curl or unruly hair by means of a heated iron or comb • Generally lasts until shampooed • Press prepares the hair for additional services • A good hair press leaves the hair in good lustrous condition; it is not harmful to the hair • Chemically relaxed hair should NOT be pressed

Cleaning the Comb • Comb will perform more efficiently if kept clean • Wipe the comb before and after every use to remove: – Loose hair and clinging dirt – The combs intense heat keeps it sterile • Stove heated comb – Remove the carbon by: • rubbing the outside surface and between the teeth with fine steel wool pad or • Place the metal portion in a hot baking soda solution for about 1 hr • Rinse and dry the comb thoroughly • Metal will be smooth and shiny again
