There is / There are ✖We use there is (SINGULAR) / there are (PLURAL)

There is / There are ✖We use there is (SINGULAR) / there are (PLURAL) to say that somebody or something exists. ○There is a table in the room. ○There are three tables in the room. ✖There is is often contracted. ✖There are is not usually contracted. ✖When we talk about a list of things we use there is if the first word is singular or there are if the first word is plural. ○There is a chair, a table and some flowers. ○There are some flowers, a chair and a table.
