2020: Our community was tested like never before (and still is). • More than 2 million Pennsylvanians filed for unemployment benefits. • School closings and cancelled youth programs exponentially increased food insecurity for children and their families. • Lost jobs and slashed wages led to growing number of evictions. Bottom line: In 2020 thousands of families who never considered themselves in need suddenly were.

2020: When Covid-19 hit, we found out help was not on the way. IT WAS ALREADY HERE. Thanks to decades-long relationships with community leaders, corporations, donors and humanservices agencies, United Way was able to respond in real time and help mitigate unprecedented suffering throughout our area.

BEYOND 2020 • Human service agencies have been stretched to their breaking point. • More families than ever exist right on the edge of financial crisis. Just one event (lost hours, illness and more) from catastrophe. • Meanwhile, our Seniors are struggling more than ever with feelings of isolation and despair. BIG QUESTION: ARE WE PREPARED AS A COMMUNITY FOR WHAT MAY COME NEXT?
