Selection Process �Committee appointed by the president of the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) �Author(s) and illustrator(s) who are citizens or residents of the United States �Must be directed at readers from pre-K through Grade 2 �Must contain illustrations and demonstrate the story being told �Published in English in the United States during the preceding year �Sentences must be simple and straightforward �There must be a minimum of 24 pages maximum, 96 pages
