PFR #65 EFI Packet problems during continuous mode • During TVAC playback of EFI data during continuous mode showed incomplete packets, missing packets or out of sequence packets. • ‘Bottom feeding’ Mode • PFR Open. Analysis shows most likely increasing “packet minimums” will solve this problem. THEMIS Instrument FM 2/FM 3 PER IDPU-11 Teleconference 8/30/2005

PFR #66 ESA Packets not arriving at GSE • During TVAC on FM 1

PFR #66 ESA Packets not arriving at GSE • During TVAC on FM 1 Suite it was observed that ESA packets were not being received by the GSE. • Analysis of the GSE scripts showed that ESA data had been disabled by command. Fix was to re-enable packets and correct script. • PFR closed. • Request was placed to FSW to add ability to command ESA and SST functions separately in the ETC. Included in thm_fsw_007 G_Changes. doc (Version 2. 10 software). THEMIS Instrument FM 2/FM 3 PER IDPU-12 Teleconference 8/30/2005

PFR #67 Temperature dependence of 28 V Actuator Monitor on IDPU-PCB • During TVAC

PFR #67 Temperature dependence of 28 V Actuator Monitor on IDPU-PCB • During TVAC it was noticed that the monitor reading of the 28 V Actuator supply varied with temperature • Analysis of the circuit showed that an opto-coupler in the circuit was being overdriven causing an error in the output over temperature. • Fixed on the PCB with 3 resistor changes. • PFR Open, will be closed after TVAC on FM 1. PCB modification done to all boards. THEMIS Instrument FM 2/FM 3 PER IDPU-13 Teleconference 8/30/2005

PFR #69 Ripple on 28 V power supply from LVPS • During the ESA

PFR #69 Ripple on 28 V power supply from LVPS • During the ESA HV test during FM 1 TVAC a ripple was noticed on the 28 V power line to the LVPS. • The LVPS was tested on the bench for varying loads at different input voltages. At half load and input voltage of 33 V oscillations were discovered at the input. • Fixed by removing a capacitor. • PFR Closed. Modification now in assembly instructions. PFR #75 ESA Power tripped off during HV Turn on in TVAC • While powering up the High Voltage supplies on the ESA the supply tripped on the PCB board. • Testing on FM 2 ESA showed inrush current on HV above trip point on PCB. • Fixed by using ability to disable current trip on PCB during HV turn on and ramp up (Procedural). • PFR Closed. PFR #80 IDPU Board Shield Mechanical Fouling Issue • During the first FM 2

PFR #80 IDPU Board Shield Mechanical Fouling Issue • During the first FM 2 CPT the SST tripped off when turned on. • It was discovered that a capacitor on the DAP board was shorting out by touching the board shield below (on BEB). • It was decided to manufacture new board shields made from FR 4 with a conductive plan in between for the BEB, DFB & DCB to prevent this problem reoccurring after vibration etc. • New board shields have been installed and work fine. • Analysis of the DAP board was carried out and shown that no damage was done to the DAP board from the shorted capacitor. • PFR Closed. PFR #81 SST SMA Attenuator Open/Close Readback problem observed on FM 2 • Housekeeping not reading back correct position of SST Attenuators. Attenuator actuation not affected. • Grounding problem related to PFR #60 • Fixed on LVPS on all units to tie SMA Return to AGND. (Rework) • PFR Closed. LVPS modification now in assembly instructions. THEMIS Instrument FM 2/FM 3 PER IDPU-17 Teleconference 8/30/2005

PFR #89 PCB P 10 V IMON Increased current draw • During the first

PFR #89 PCB P 10 V IMON Increased current draw • During the first FM 3 CPT it was noticed that the P 10 V current monitor was reading high. • Testing of circuit showed that when heat was applied to the op-amp in the current monitor circuit, the output fluctuated. Comparing this to the FM 5 board this was out of character behavior. • Fixed by replacing op-amp. Testing repeated and monitor now within range. • PFR Closed.
