Theme Learning Year 2 Week beginning 6 th July 2020
Monday 6 th July LI: To write a poem using my senses Today we are going to link together our Theme and English learning to write a poem using our senses. Last week in English we imagined the different things we might see, smell, hear and feel if we were driving around a racing track. For your poem we would like you to choose 4 different experiences from your senses (hopefully at least 1 that isn't what you might see) and create a poem using the template.
Monday 6 th July LI: To write a poem using my senses Activity: To use your senses sheet from last week and the poem template to create your own poem. Perhaps imagining you are driving the car you have been building. Challenge! Can you create a rhyming couplet by finding a word that rhymes with the sense you are using. E. g. What can I see? . . at me? What can I hear? . . . . my ear/cheer?
Monday 6 th July LI: To write a poem using my senses Example poem. . Driving Round the Racetrack What did I see? A bright and shiny car Zooming past me Driving Round the Racetrack What did I hear? The sound of thousands of excited fans Cheering as I got near.
Tuesday 7 th July LI: To finish building my racing car. Today we would like you to finish decorating and building you racing car or vehicle. This may include…. • Adding extra detail to you design – lights, racing numbers, spoiler, painting it etc. • Threading the axles through the chassis frame and fixing the wheels onto the end of each. Do you want to modify it in any way? **If you have finished your car then head over to Purple Mash where you can use the program to design your own vehicles on the computer**
Wednesday 8 th July LI: To evaluate my design and construction Now that we have successfully made our own car, the final part of the design and making process is to evaluate your creation. It does not matter if everything on your car is not perfect! What do you like best about your vehicle? Would you change anything to help make it even better? Activity: Complete your evaluation sheet and score your vehicle out of 10! Challenge: Can you design a helmet for your racing car or perhaps a track that you would like it to go round?
Thursday 9 th July LI: To be creative Today we are going to have a creative focus for our learning – you have a choice today of what activity you would like to do. Would you like to be musical and create your own song using a simple beat? https: //www. bbc. co. uk/bitesize/articles/z 69 vtrd Would you like to look at some different artists and their work before being creative in their style?
