Salvador “Badong” Bernal
PERSONAL LIFE • Birthday: Jan. 7, 1945 • Birthplace: Dagupan City • Bernal was the fifth of 10 children of Santiago Bernal, a dentist, and Ubalda Flor, a clothes designer.
PERSONAL LIFE • Studied at Ateneo de Manila • He organized the PATDAT (Philippine Association of Theatre Designers and Technicians)
WORKS • Designed more than 300 productions. • Production design was not merely decorative for him.

Why is he considered as National Artist? • Using inexpensive local materials • Producing regardless of the low budget • One of the greatest fashion designer, computer-graphic artist, film collector and a stage director but he refused as one of those.
