Attractions • Tourist attractions are a dynamic component of travel and tourism industry. They attract visitors to a destination by providing opportunities for relaxation, amusement, entertainment and education. • Visitor attractions are of 2 types: Natural attractions (mountains, forests, landmarks, nature) Built attractions (theme parks, museums sports, cinemas, malls, parks)
Role of tourist information and guiding services
Tour guides • Tour guides usually refer to the activity of accompanying a group of visitors around a particular site, town or part of a region, giving information on the history , pointing out the interests, and responsible for conducting the group efficiently. • TICs(Tourist Information Centre) carry a wide range of promotional leaflets, brochures, guide books pertaining to the local area. • It is the outlet for booking the tourist guides
Role of ancillary tourist services
Ancillary Services • The chain of distribution provides opportunities to offer additional travel products and services to their customers (money exchange, travel insurance) • Travel Insurance is offered by both tour operators and travel agents. • TICs provide ancillary services like accommodation booking, sell tickets for theatres etc.
Role of Tourism Board
Tourist Board • The role of NTO(National Tourism organization) is very significant and their mission is to increase the value of inbound tourism to a particular country. • NTO will exert control and influence the local / regional tourist board in delivering services to the visitors.
