The week beginning 2 nd December Tuesday Out
The week beginning 2 nd December (Tuesday) “Out of the Darkness, Into the Light: The Time before Christmas is the Time of Light and mutual Love. ”- Sir Kristian Goldmund Aumann
In the weeks leading up to Christmas we wait in hope for the arrival of Jesus - God made man - who would show the people of the world how to live together: forgiving errors, acting with kindness, supporting the needy, promoting peace, striving for justice. By living like this, we continue to make Christ’s presence known on earth every day: delivering to all people the true gift of Christmas, God’s love. Let us reflect this morning: Do you always strive for hope in your life?
Let us pray together: God of hope; be with us on our Advent journey to the stable and beyond, be with us in our meeting and in our travelling together, be with us in our worship and our praying together, our God of hope. Amen

Read about when a pregnant Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth A few days later Mary hurried to the hill country of Judea, to the town where Zechariah lived. She entered the house and greeted Elizabeth. At the sound of Mary’s greeting, Elizabeth’s child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Elizabeth gave a glad cry and exclaimed to Mary, “God has blessed you above all women, and your child is blessed. Why am I so honoured, that the mother of my Lord should visit me? When I heard your greeting, the baby in my womb jumped for joy. You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said. ”
Elizabeth and her husband Zechariah where very old when they had their son who became John the Baptist. They had always wanted a child but it looked like it was never going to happen. But they never gave up hope and trusted in God’s plan for us. Let us be inspired by their commitment to their trust in God and let us believe that God will provide for us. Lets us pray; Lift our hearts, Lord Jesus Christ, and encourage us by Your spiritual gifts, to live victoriously in the power of Your love. Give us the audacity to face the enemy wherever he may confront us, and the nerve to trust you completely for deliverance and salvation. You are our inspiration and our hope, Lord Jesus, for You have won the victory over the enemy, forever Amen.

Take a moment to reflect on how your preparations during Advent are going. Are you doing something everyday? Are you making Christ the centre of your preparations for Christmas
The Lord is present in our lives and we have to be awake to see it; to recognise His love and power in every moment of our lives. So let us, during this time of preparation, always be ready to see God in every person, situation and action that we will come across today. So we pray: Creator God, you who love us more than we can know Who chose us from the very beginning to be family We praise your holy name. Jesus Christ, Son of God, Word become flesh Who dwelt among us and was sacrificed for us We praise your holy name. Holy Spirit, present and power in our lives From the moment that we first believed We praise Your holy name. Amen
The week beginning 2 nd December (Friday – Founder’s Day)
Just over 93 years ago, Canon Parsons foundered this school with just 18 students! From there is it has blossomed into the community, the family that it is today. It was his courage in creating this school that has allowed us all to have a space not only to learn and work, but to become closer to God, to thrive as his disciples. Today we give thanks and celebrate the brilliance that is FCHS. Let us take a moment this morning to reflect; Why are you thankful to be part of this school community which Canon Parsons created?
Let us bring together all our thoughts and feelings and offer them up to God as we say our school Community Prayer Father, Pour out your Spirit Upon our community at Finchley Catholic High School, Grant us to work worthily in your sight As we build up our school within an atmosphere of honesty and trust, For your honour and glory. May we pray and work together, Consecrated in your service, So that you may bless our endeavour and aspirations and make our school a better place for all of us who teach, work and learn within. We ask this through Jesus Christ your Son, and in unity with the Holy Spirit, Who lives and reigns with you Forever and ever. Amen
