Jesus touched and transformed… A leper (Mark 1: 40 -45) • Leprosy was physical corruption. • Sin is spiritual corruption (2 Peter 2: 1012). • When Jesus touches our lives with truth, our rotting sinful selves are transformed (Ephesians 4: 21 -23; 2 Peter 1: 3 -4).
Jesus touched and transformed… The daughter of Jairus (Mark 5: 3542) • Physical death is the end of life – the separation of body and spirit. • Spiritual death is the end of spiritual life – the separation of man from God (Romans 6: 23). • Jesus has power to give both physical and spiritual life (John 5: 21 -29).
Jesus touched and transformed… A deaf man (Mark 7: 31 -37) • Inability to hear and speak inhibits communication. • Willfully refusing to hear the truth makes it impossible to learn and develop saving faith (Matthew 13: 15).
Jesus touched and transformed… A blind man (Mark 8: 22 -26) • Physical blindness makes the way to walk uncertain. • Spiritual blindness makes it impossible to walk the way of salvation (2 Corinthians 4: 3 -4; Ephesians 4: 18 -19). • Jesus came to open the eyes of the spiritually blind (Isaiah 42: 16; Luke 4: 1718).
Jesus Touched the Children who needed no Transformation (Mark 10: 13 -16) But we do! “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18: 3 -4).
