Both emperor and pope had one eye on the enemy as a “wild boar” in little Wittenberg, Saxony (modern day Germany) continued to teach and write about the truth he was seeing in the Word of God and the errors he was witnessing in his church. 4

It was held in the Middle Ages, and is one of the reasons for the Protestant Reformation. I often used Calvin’s commentaries or his Institutes in my preparations to preach and/or teach. Like all of the Lutheran and Reformed teachers and pastors, John Calvin was committed to the study and proclamation of the God’s Word. 23

THIS WEEK (Monday is Reformation Day)! Read a little bit of Calvin (the web is filled with Calvin quotes). It is edifying (spiritually helpful)! Be sure to submit your thinking and you living to the Word of God. Be willing to adjust both as God reveals more to you from the reading and study of His Word. 26
