British Colonies l l l How did the 13 Colonies get there? Who do the 13 Colonies belong to, the Colonists or the King? What led the Colonists to eventually want to “move out of their Parents house? ”
New England Colonies l l l New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island. Resources: Fish, whale, trees, furs Poor, rocky soil and cold weather that prevented a strong agriculture Religion: Puritans, lacked religious tolerance Mostly families
Middle Colonies l l New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Grew Gain and raised livestock Great natural harbors Mostly young single individuals there to work and make money.
Southern Colonies l l l Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia grew its own food 3 major cash crops: Tobacco, rice, and indigo. The South traded mostly with England Crops typically grown on large plantations, with slaves and indentured servants.

l l l English Bill of Rights: Signed by King William and Queen Mary in 1688. A written list of freedoms that the government promised to protect. Required Parliament to meet regularly Could not raise taxes or build an army without Parliaments consent.
