THINKING SKILLS MODEL INTRODUCTION The Thinking Skills Model was created as the latest version of the Creative Problem Solving process. Still uses the basis of Divergent then Convergent thinking. There are 3 Stages and 6 Steps to TSM. � Clarification Exploring the Vision Formulating Challenges � Transformation Exploring Ideas Formulating Solutions � Implementation Exploring Acceptance Formulating a Plan
ASSESSING THE SITUATION Above all the other steps is the major step that happens above everything else. At all times, you should Gather Data and based on that data make a decision about the situation you are in.
CLARIFICATION STAGE Clarification is all about understanding what the problem you are approaching is. Exploring the Vision � Try to figure out where you want to go. Tools: Why? What’s stopping you? Formulating Challenges � Figure out the best way to approach a problem. Tools: Sentence Starters (How to, I what ways might we)
TRANSFORMATION STAGE Transformation is about generating options and developing those ideas. Exploring Ideas � Generate as many ideas as you possibly can. Tools: Brainstorming, Hits Formulating Solutions � Make your ideas into actions. Tool: Hi-lighting
IMPLEMENTATION STAGE Implementation is about giving your idea legs and doing it. Exploring Acceptance � Exploring acceptance is about finding all the ways to get a plan started. Tool: Assistor/Resistor Formulating a Plan � Formulating a plan is about getting the actions in an order. Who? Does What? By When? Reports to whom?
