The Story of Jesus Until you fully understand the real cost of your sin, you will never appreciate the grace of the cross.

The Story of Jesus Why would Jesus go to the cross? He understood the cost of our sin.

The Story of Jesus Do you realize how bad the consequences of our sin had to be to justify God sending Jesus to experience the cross? ? ?

The Story of Jesus What was the cost? It was us paying the price for our own sins for eternity separated from God in hell without hope.

v Hell is real

But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. Luke 6: 20 -27

So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Luke 6: 20 -27

Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. ' Luke 6: 20 -27

But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. Luke 6: 20 -27

And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us. ' Luke 6: 20 -27

Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house, for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment. ' Luke 6: 20 -27

These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 2 Thessalonians 1: 9

Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. " John 3: 3

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14: 6

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. " Acts 4: 12

The Story of Jesus The cross is the only way for us to be reconciled with God

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. Hebrews 10: 26 -31

Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Hebrews 10: 26 -31

Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? Hebrews 10: 26 -31

For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, " says the Lord. And again, "The Lord will judge His people. " It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10: 26 -31

The Story of Jesus This is what happens to those who die in their sins.

• Hell is real v We must be willing to take drastic measures to deal with our sin

But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea. Mark 9: 42 -48

If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched-- where 'Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched. ' Mark 9: 42 -48

And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame, rather than having two feet, to be cast into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched-- where 'Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched. ' Mark 9: 42 -48

And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire-- where 'Their worm does not die, And the fire is not quenched. ' Mark 9: 42 -48

The Story of Jesus The really cool thing about coming to Jesus is that we may come thinking we are giving up much, only to find that we are gaining blows away anything we were worried about losing

"For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. Mark 9: 49

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, Hebrews 9: 27

For it is written: "As I live, says the Lord, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God. " So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Romans 14: 11 -12

each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. 1 Corinthians 3: 13 -15

If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire. 1 Corinthians 3: 13 -15

And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. Revelation 20: 12 -15

The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Revelation 20: 12 -15

And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20: 12 -15

The Story of Jesus What you do in this life follows you to the next life

• Hell is real • We must be willing to take drastic measures to deal with our sin • Everyone will be judged v Live like you are going to be judged

Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another. " Mark 9: 50

The Story of Jesus Don’t miss your purpose of existing! You were created in God’s image to be in a relationship with God.

The Story of Jesus God made a way for you to come to God through the cross of Christ. This came at great cost to Jesus. Don’t act like this is no big deal. It is insulting to God.

The Story of Jesus Give your life to Jesus and then be salt in the world that demonstrates to people how awesome God is.
