Recognition The Wyoming Chapter of the Wildlife Society presented Teton County Engineer Amy Ramage with the “Citizen of the Year” for her work on wildlife crossings in the state. The “Citizen of the Year” award recognizes an individual who is not in the wildlife profession, but whose efforts directly benefit wildlife and/or associated habitat. Previous recipients of this award range from science teachers to former Governors.

Recognition Teton County Health Department Director Jodie Pond was recognized by the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce with the “Ride for the Brand” award for her response to COVID-19. Pond’s award was part of the Chamber’s 55 th Annual Awards Ceremony held virtually. “This year, perhaps more than ever before, appreciation and recognition in our community are essential, " said Anna Olson, President and CEO of the Chamber.

Health Department • The first case of COVID-19 was detected in Teton County in March 2020. • Health Department staff grew to accommodate the needs of COVID-19 • Contact Tracers • Epidemiologist • Nurses • Teton County applied for CARES Funding to pay for salaries and supplies. • On May 28, 2020, the Health Department hosted a COVID-19 Mass Testing. • The Health Department created a surveillance testing program so businesses could frequently test employees to identify individuals who may be asymptomatic. • Vault tests became available for free to all Wyoming residents. • Curative Business Surveillance Testing Kiosks established.

Teton County Public Works Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling (ISWR) • ISWR recently began accepting food waste from the community at the Trash Transfer Station. • In the coming months, ISWR will expand this program by offering a commercial food waste collection services for restaurants and other food waste-generating commercial entities. • A four-year food waste collection pilot project in Grand Teton National Park, which was part of the Subaru/National Parks Conservation Association Zero Landfill Initiative, helped the County reach this exciting milestone.

Teton County Public Works BUILD Grant • In the process of consultant selection for grant administration and management and professional services for most BUILD grant project components, including preliminary and final design, NEPA/environmental review, cost estimating, procurement and construction management. • The BUILD grant team hopes to have a project kick-off meeting with the Federal Transit Administration soon and is excited to get these great projects off the ground. Water Quality Efforts • Teton County is working with Protect Our Water Jackson Hole and the Teton Conservation District to hire a consultant for a comprehensive water quality planning effort, including wastewater management and other human-related impacts to surface and groundwater. • Public Works staff is proposing in the upcoming FY 2022 a new full time employment position – General Project Manager – to work on water-quality and other public works-related projects and programs.
