Parts of the Staffing Process ■ Administrative Transfers/System Responsibility (Medical) ■ 6+ Transfers (Round 1) ■ 6+ Transfers (Round 2) ■ System Responsibility (non Medical) ■ Principal Selected Transfers ■ Consolidation ■ Surplus ■ Layoff /Recall ■ Increase in Time
Six Plus transfer… 6+ -- A teacher who has been teaching at a school for 6 or more years and who has applied for a transfer and that transfer shall be granted, providing
6+ Transfers…. ■ must have six or more years at a school ■ selection of available positions will be posted ■ teachers may select as many positions as they wish & rank these ■ placement will be made in order of seniority ■ teachers must be qualified for the position ■ position must match total FTE
Transfer Notification Teacher who has received a transfer (6+ or Principal Selection) shall receive notification via email that confirms the approved transfer within 48 hours.
Principal Selected Transfers ■ all teachers can participate in the process ■ surplus to school can participate ■ teachers who have received a layoff notice cannot ■ all positions are posted ■ teachers can use transfers to consolidate time but not to increase it
Surplus ■ teachers who are Surplus to a school, have a position with UGDSB, but not at their current school ■ the Board will endeavour to place surplus teachers at one school if at all possible ■ surplus teachers will complete a preference form ■ if a position, or part of a position, becomes available at the teacher’s school during the staffing process, the teacher will be given an opportunity to return to the school ■ This offer is only made once -- if declined, they will be placed during the surplus stage the staffing process
Layoffs ■ teachers who receive a layoff notice are subject to recall for up to two years ■ the Board will endeavour to place laid off teachers in one school if possible ■ teachers who receive a layoff notice, will complete a preference form
Consolidation ■ opportunity to combine two or more FTE allotments into a larger whole position ■. 3 at Utopia School; . 2 at Nirvana Public ■ Can be consolidated at either school if the position exists -- or, can be placed at another school ■. 5 – Ecstasy Central
Increase in Time ■ Final stage of the staffing process 28. 02 A teacher who requests an Increase in Time shall have it granted during the staffing process provided the following criteria are met: o the Teacher is qualified for the vacancy o The vacancy corresponds with the information on the teacher’s Increase in Time Form o Part time assignments align with the teacher’s working schedule o The teacher’s most recent TPA was successful
Increase in Time, continued ■ The vacancy corresponds with the information on the teacher’s Increase in Time Form ■ Part time assignments align with the teacher’s working schedule ■ The teacher’s most recent TPA was successful ■ The teacher is not actively participating in an Improvement or Enrichment Plan ■ The teacher has not had a disciplinary suspension within the last two years. Increases in time are considered in order of seniority.
