MUHAMMAD’S SUCCESSORS SPREAD ISLAM • Muhammad dies and leaves Abu-Bakr in charge of Islam. • Each leader of Islam is called a CALIPH. • Caliphs spread Islam and use JIHAD as a way to spread Islam.
